Jello shots were handed out to underage kids at a party

Saturday night, around 10:00 pm, police went over to Siribana 20-L for an underage party where they served alcohol. When they arrived, a mother stood outside and was very upset because they gave her underaged daughter “jello shots,” causing her daughter to “pass out” in the bathroom. She blames the parents who organized the party.

The parents of the one whose birthday it was are now facing an official criminal complaint about allowing underage children to consume alcohol. Parents thought they left their kids in good hands at the party, only to find out that the parents self were handing out alcohol.

When she arrived at the house to pick up her daughter, they almost didn’t let her in. She saw a friend of her daughter who told her that her daughter was in the bathroom. When she saw the state her daughter was in, she called the police immediately.

“Jello Shot” is gelatin mixed with alcohol that you consume as a shot. The daughter does not remember much, but she did recall the father of the one whose birthday it was, passing out “jello shots” and told them that it was just juice.

The mother took her daughter to Hospital to test her. They met other girls there who were also at the party. Another mother was told that her daughter almost left the party in her underwear.

Another mother said that her child told her that the father at the party kept refilling the bar with alcohol and that the boys kept trying to make the girls drunk so they could remove their clothes. Other girls would be taken to bedrooms. And all this was happening under the supervision of the parents who hosted the party for their child!

Many parents took their daughters to Hospital to do a rape-kit, see if their daughters had been abused, and to have as proof for the case. But the hospital did not have any.

The parents went to the police station in Oranjestad to file a complaint at Jeugd en Zeden Politie (JZP). They are taking legal actions against the parents of the birthday kid for permitting an unsafe environment for their children during a “house party.”

Nowadays, parents must be cautious as to where they allow their kids to go. Must be sure of who the parents are and if they are present, make sure you have their names and phone numbers and, if possible, when dropping off your child, make sure you greet the parents and look at where the party is. If you don’t feel comfortable, take your kid back home!
