Something historical: Shanayah Howell in top 10 of the world

The year started with great news and especially for Shanayah Howell. UCI section Super Cross Elite BMX updated their world ranking for BMX, and our national pride ranked at number 9. At the moment, Shanayah is the number 1 ranked to qualify as an individual athlete for the 2020 Olympics. This is something historical for the sport of cycling in Aruba and the Antilles.

Regardless of the Covid-19 crisis, Shanayah continued training and did very well at her competitions at the end of last year. Shanayah’s goal is to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Pedro Esteban, Shanayah’s professional coach, has without a doubt been doing a terrific job. She has also received tremendous support from COA and AWB to get better results and reach her goal of qualifying for the Olympics. Congratulations to Shanayah Howell and Aruba.
