Joe Biden sworn in as America’s 46th President

The ex-senator and vice-president Joe Biden was sworn in as America’s 46th President, after a series of claims on the validity of his victory by the outgoing President, Donald Trump. 

President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the US, John G. Robert, was in charge of the oath at the Capitol in Washington DC. Biden, 78 years of age, is the oldest person to obtain the nation’s highest position, replacing Donald Trump, who was 70 years old when he became president. 

Ex democratic senator, Kamala Harris, was sworn in as the first female vice-president of the US and as a black and South Asian American.

The ceremony was attended by Republican figures, including ex-vice-president Mike Pence. Ex-President Donald Trump did not participate in the ceremony. He and His wife Melania left the White House this morning and went to their residence in Palm Beach, Florida. 

Also present at the ceremony were George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, with their respective wife.
