Authorities received test results sent to the Netherlands, which confirmed that 5 of the cases have the UK variant. Two of them are non-resident and three residents.
The UK variant is twice as contagious as the original one, and that’s why authorities are appealing to everyone to be extra cautious.
In the coming days will evaluate measures applicable to this situation. From now on, limit family visits, limit social gatherings and limit contact with others, both at work and outside of work.
“We are fighting an invincible virus! However, the weapon to fight this virus is in our hands. Take care of yourself and your family,” is what Jurette Croes, spokeswoman for the Department of Public Health, said today.
