The Public tender for cultivation and processing of Cannabis has closed.

Deadline for application for Request for proposal for the cultivation and processing of Cannabis has

Ended.

Minister of Public Health Mr. Dangui Oduber informs us that registration to participate in the “Request For Proposal” (RFP) for the cultivation and processing of Cannabis ended on the 26th of February 2021. A great interest has been displayed in the processing and cultivation of Cannabis for medicinal purposes.

The process that will introduce Aruba to a new economic pillar is heading into its second phase. The medicinal Cannabis industry could generate 100 million florins for Aruba straight away. It could create 200 job possibilities with salaries (gross income) ranging from 3600 to 400 florin. Of the 100 million florins that could be generated by this industry, 12 million will go back to the government through taxes and premiums, as Minister Oduber stated.

There are three types of RFP that applied for participation:

1.       RFP for the cultivation of Cannabis for medicinal purposes on Aruba. 17 companies registered to participate in the process.

2.       RFP for the processing of Cannabis for medicinal purposes on Aruba. 12 companies registered to participate in this process.

3.       RFP for both the cultivation and processing of Cannabis for medicinal purposes on Aruba. 44 companies registered to participate in this process.

In the next phase, the registered companies will receive documents containing instructions for how they should prepare their propositions. Only the companies that managed to register during the allotted period can continue with the RFP process.

Minister Dangui Oduber thanks all companies who showed interest with regards to cultivating and processing Cannabis for medicinal purpose on Aruba. This is a much-needed progressive way to diversify our economy with new industries for the future of Aruba, Minister Oduber states.
