ACF celebrates the people behind Aruba’s conservation efforts

The Aruba Conservation Foundation (ACF) dedicated its Associate Appreciation Week to promoting well-being, connection, and moments for associates to recharge and reconnect.

At ACF, protecting nature begins with caring for the people who dedicate themselves to preserving Aruba’s natural heritage. This year’s celebration placed associate well-being at the forefront, featuring a week-long program focused on balance, connection, personal growth, and overall happiness.

The week also coincided with two important dates for ACF: World Nature Conservation Day on July 28 and World Ranger Day on July 31, adding special significance to the celebration.

Throughout the week, associates participated in activities designed to help them step away from their daily routines and focus on both their physical and mental well-being. The program included a nature walk, a breathing and mindfulness session with a yoga instructor, healthy cooking sessions with a nutritionist, and a workshop focused on improving communication skills.

Associates were also treated to moments of appreciation before starting their workday, including coffee from Cozy Cup Mobile Café and fresh fruit smoothies from Fruktos Health. Each activity served as a reminder that while associates dedicate their time and energy to protecting Aruba’s environment, it is equally important for them to care for their own well-being.

To create the program, ACF collaborated with YADE Wellness, which shared its expertise in incorporating healthy habits into daily life. Beyond promoting healthier choices, the activities were designed to be engaging and enjoyable, creating opportunities for laughter, stronger connections, and appreciation among colleagues.

The initiative reinforced the message that a healthy workplace is built on authentic relationships, collaboration, and mutual support.

The week concluded with a guided nature walk led by Nature Coach Gea Souge. The walk began at Sero Pela, continued toward Urirama, and ended at Sero Grandi in the protected northern coastal area. Associates were encouraged to bring a family member or friend, allowing the experience of well-being to extend beyond the workplace.

“Our associates dedicate themselves to protecting Aruba’s natural heritage, and Associate Appreciation Week gives us the opportunity to pause and recognize the valuable contributions each person makes to conservation and the continued growth of ACF. By recognizing and showing appreciation, our associates feel valued and are better equipped to care for one another, our visitors, and our natural environment. Well-being is an essential part of building a healthy and resilient organization that allows us to continue improving our conservation efforts,” said Tyson Lopez, Director General of ACF.
