On Tuesday, April 9th, Aruba’s Prime Minister, Mike Eman, welcomed the German Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, for an official visit. The ambassador was accompanied by Germany’s Honorary Consul in Aruba, Landa Henriquez, and the Director of Aruba’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Jocelyne Croes. Meyer-Landrut has served as Germany’s ambassador in The Hague since 2024, and this visit marked his first trip to Aruba.
During a cordial meeting, the Prime Minister and the ambassador reflected on the long-standing historical ties between Aruba and Germany and acknowledged the significance of their bilateral relationship. Prime Minister Eman also shared his vision for Aruba’s future and emphasized the importance of international partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals.
The conversation focused on exploring potential areas for collaboration, including renewable energy, climate change, education, housing challenges, and waste management. Both parties expressed interest in deepening cooperation in these key sectors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Eman and Ambassador Meyer-Landrut agreed to continue developing and expanding opportunities for closer collaboration between Aruba and Germany. This ongoing dialogue will be facilitated by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
