Aruba has sent a delegation of four weightlifters to Guayaquil, Ecuador, to compete in the South American Championships. The event, which runs from September 14 to 20, 2025, features categories for Under-15, Under-17, Under-20, and Senior athletes.
Representing Aruba are two female athletes in the 53kg and 58kg classes. On the men’s side, one athlete will compete in the Junior 65kg category, and another in the Senior 88kg category.
The championships began on September 15th and will conclude on September 20, with 181 athletes from across South America participating. The opening ceremony on September 16 included a parade featuring athletes from ten different countries.
Aruba Amateur Weightlifting expressed its gratitude to Stichting Sport Subsidie and the Panamerican Weightlifting Federation for covering the athletes’ travel and accommodation expenses. The federation also wished our athletes success as they compete in Guayaquil.
This competition offers the athletes a valuable opportunity to gain international experience and showcase their skills on a continental stage, while also representing Aruba with pride.
