On Tuesday morning, the Parliament of Aruba held its annual ceremony to mark the start of the new parliamentary year, continuing a long-standing tradition. The event serves as both a formal opening and a moment to reflect on the country’s progress and how the community can benefit more directly from Aruba’s development.
For Stephany Sevinger, a Member of Parliament from the AVP faction, the day carried special significance as it was her first time attending the ceremony. “For me, it was an experience that fills me with hope. I believe we can continue this work with a clear vision and mission guiding us forward,” she said.
Other parliamentarians from AVP and FUTURO also shared their perspectives. Carlos Bermudez stressed the importance of maintaining close oversight of the government. FUTURO’s Muzaninn Wever underlined the need for greater attention to the formality and care of the protocol surrounding the ceremony. Meanwhile, Gino Goeloe reflected on the deeper meaning of continuing to work for the common good and the importance of that commitment.
Despite acknowledging that challenges remain, both factions conveyed a strong sense of optimism and determination. They expressed enthusiasm for the year ahead, reaffirming their commitment to work toward a better future for Aruba.
