The Government of Aruba will organize a major national cleanup campaign on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Prime Minister Mike Eman is calling on residents, businesses, organizations, sports clubs, NGOs, and neighborhood centers to come together and help create a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful island.
The initiative was announced during a “Neighborhood Action” event in Mabon, where Prime Minister Eman, together with representatives from various government services and organizations, visited the neighborhood to address community needs and carry out cleanup work.
Participants included Serlimar, City Inspector, DOW, GKMBS, the Department of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism, Transportation and Labor, and other government departments. Parliamentarians Otami Thomasia and Sonali Fernandez Acosta, representatives of the Mabon Development and Welfare Committee, and Gerco Rijkers, President of the Employers Association of the Aruban Construction Industry (WAB), also took part in the activity.
Rijkers confirmed that the association will contribute to the cleanup efforts in Mabon. He also encouraged other companies to participate by providing employees and resources to help clean different neighborhoods and areas across Aruba on the national cleanup day. Sonali Fernandez Acosta, representing the Ministry of Tourism, praised the initiative and encouraged everyone to participate by cleaning around their homes, adopting a public area, or organizing a cleanup activity in their own neighborhood.
Everyone can participate
During the cleanup campaign on July 25, every organization, company, or group of residents can choose an area to clean. Possible locations include:
- A neighborhood or street;
- The area around a home or business;
- The surroundings of a neighborhood center;
- The area around a sports club;
- A beach or other public space.
Prime Minister Eman encouraged residents to join with family members, colleagues, and community groups, choose an area, and take action. “Aruba belongs to all of us. If every resident, company, and organization adopts an area and contributes, together we can make Aruba completely clean and, even more importantly, keep it clean,” Eman said.
