On Wednesday, April 23rd, the board of the Aruba Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KvK) held an important meeting with Prime Minister Mike Eman at Cocolishi. During the meeting, KvK President Diederik Kemmerling highlighted the vital role the Chamber plays in Aruba’s economic development, representing more than 16,000 active businesses.
Kemmerling emphasized that the KvK is much more than a business registry. It serves as a platform to address real challenges faced by the private sector and works closely with its members to develop sustainable solutions. These solutions are then communicated to the government to help drive improvements that benefit the entire community.
One of the key concerns discussed was the potential impact of the significant increase in hotel rooms expected to open in the coming months. This expansion will create an urgent need to import a large number of workers, placing additional pressure on basic infrastructure, particularly the Waste Water Management system at Bubali Plas. Kemmerling stressed the need for an urgent and lasting solution to address these challenges.

The meeting also touched on the topic of green energy, which remains a priority for both the government and the private sector. There is clear alignment between the AVP–Futuro coalition government’s plan and the strategy proposed by the KvK, both of which are based on the needs and aspirations of Aruba’s businesses and entrepreneurs.
A strong sense of cooperation and commitment emerged during the discussions, with both parties dedicated to elevating Aruba to a higher level through sustainable solutions, economic development, and enhanced well-being for all citizens.
