On Tuesday afternoon, the U12 boys from the TDS-FIFA Talent Academy traveled to Canada to take part in a training camp. This trip is part of their ongoing preparation for next year’s participation in the CFU Caribbean Club Shield.
Chris Beardsley, FIFA Talent Coach at Aruba Football Federation (AVB), explained that this is the second training camp for the group. Back in October, the boys traveled to the Netherlands for their first camp. That trip was a unique experience—it was the first time they had traveled together as a team.
Beardsley believes the players are now better prepared for what’s ahead. In Canada, they’ll train at top-level facilities, play matches, attend training sessions, and also have time to explore and enjoy new experiences.
What stood out to Beardsley most was how much the boys have grown as a team. They’ve matured and now have a better understanding of what it takes to become professional players. They train six times a week together and also attend school as a group, spending a lot of time with one another on and off the field.
According to Beardsley, the boys have made clear progress in their development, both as athletes and individuals.
