During a recent visit from the World Aquatics delegation, James Gibson—head of coaching development—and Dylan Carter—a member of the World Aquatics Athletes’ Commission—took the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise with Aruba’s local coaching community. Both Gibson and Carter are Olympians with experience competing at the highest levels of international swimming.
As part of their visit, Gibson and Carter met with representatives of the Aruba Olympic Committee (COA) to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration in the development of aquatic sports on the island.
Gibson noted that during their time in Aruba, they were briefed on the current swimming program and how it is being implemented. Carter emphasized the importance of investing in coaching development and expressed confidence in the Caribbean’s potential in the sport. He also voiced his hope that more elite swimmers will emerge from Aruba in the future.
In addition to educational seminars for coaches, the duo led various training sessions for local swimmers. These sessions provided technical guidance while allowing them to observe and nurture the island’s athletic talent.
