Customs officers face intense heat and foul odors in their building

The patience of the Customs officers has run out. They will no longer tolerate working in the Horizonte building where they are stationed, right on the Boulevard.

“We need another place now,” said Edward Maduro, president of the SADA Customs Union. He added, “The place is unsuitable, and we can’t keep patching it up. The government needs to assume its role and develop a temporary solution until a permanent place is found.”

Initially, the intention was to move to the address on the boulevard temporarily. They moved there in 2015, and now, nine years later, they are still in the same place, but things have only gotten worse.

How this action will proceed remains in the hands of the members. They hope to receive attention from the relevant minister and government about what they will do next. They want a definite word on when they will move to another location because they have already fixed the air conditioners several times, and they keep getting damaged.

Twice, they had to evacuate two entire floors because of the unbearable smell coming from the toilets, which has been an ongoing issue. Work cannot be done in the afternoon due to the unbearable heat. Something needs to be done.
