Group of teens steals from tourists at hotels and beaches

by Nicole

Security at high-rise hotels is on high alert as a group of teens has been actively stealing from tourists, both inside hotels and on nearby beaches. Yesterday, one suspect was caught stealing on the beach while his accomplice fled the scene.

The suspects, aged 13 and 15, were apprehended once again yesterday. One of them is a resident of Bushiri. The pair had targeted Playa Linda, hoping to find valuables to steal. They made their way to the hotel floors, walking through hallways and trying doors to see if any were left unlocked. Playa Linda’s vigilant security team made it difficult for the thieves to go unnoticed. When security spotted their suspicious behavior, they confronted the suspects.

The teens attempted to flee, hiding in a bathroom. However, when they emerged, they were quickly restrained, and the police were called. Their theft attempt was thwarted. Upon confrontation, it seems they tried to flush drugs down the toilet. Authorities found a marijuana grinder in their possession, along with three cell phones, which will be investigated to determine if they belong to the suspects. Both individuals were taken into custody.

This group has been carrying out thefts in an increasingly dangerous manner. They climb to higher floors of hotels, targeting open rooms to steal tourists’ belongings. Afterward, they descend via balconies to reach lower floors. This risky practice has led to deadly consequences in the past—another thief involved in similar activities slipped while crossing between balconies and fell to his death.

With these two recent arrests, a clear message is being sent: teens should take this as a warning. If they continue down this path, they risk being caught, detained, or even losing their lives.
