Popular Venezuelan singer and actor Guillermo Dávila is back on the island for his upcoming concert, “Amor y Despecho,” which will take place on July 5 at the Entertainment Center. He had performed here before, but on Friday he arrived in Aruba and shared with the press that it has been nearly 30 years since his last visit.
Dávila admitted he has managed to stay active through the years. “But I never stopped,” he said, referring to his music career. Recently, he decided to launch a professional tour after holding back the urge for some time. He has two new songs available on YouTube, and many fans are asking about a new album. “That too,” he said. “The thing is, nowadays you don’t really make a full album anymore. You put out a single, and it takes off on the internet.”
As for acting, he currently has no projects in the works. “I’m acting in real life — when the bills come in, I hide,” he joked.
About Venezuela, he reflected on how many artists who found success there now have to look for opportunities in other parts of the world, for different reasons. “I feel really good and now even more committed to all my people in Venezuela. And not only to Venezuelans, but to many others who grew up with me in other countries as well,” he explained.
