Sub-inspector Kenneth Philips has recently been appointed to a new position at the airport, following an incident that led to complications in his previous role.
Philips serves as the head of the police department overseeing the Playa area. After a car accident with his work vehicle, there were suspicions that he may have been under the influence, and it was reported that he refused to take the breathalyzer test. As a result, a disciplinary process was initiated, and legal action was taken against Philips, which he ultimately won. It was a difficult situation for him.
Now Kenneth Philips has officially taken over as head of Border Control, where he will oversee police officers working at the airport border. This follows the early retirement of George Dammers, who previously held the position and concluded his service with the police before reaching the standard retirement age.
When Dammers retired, there was no immediate replacement, so David Wing temporarily assumed the role until a permanent appointment could be made. This transition has now been completed, with Philips taking responsibility for the position.
As for the damages he caused to the vehicle involved in the accident, he will likely have to cover those himself.
