Recently, Massive Brassband International traveled to Tampa, Florida, to perform at several events, including the renowned Gasparilla Parade.
The group kicked off their trip with a captivating performance at Busch Gardens on Thursday afternoon. According to John Hessens, a dedicated member of the band and a brassband enthusiast, the event was a great success. The lively performance received rave reviews, especially from the American audience. Many praised the energetic and contagious rhythm, which naturally invited people to dance. Unlike brassbands, marching bands are more familiar in the U.S., making the show a fresh and exciting experience for attendees.
On Friday night, Massive Brassband International participated in a Hawaiian Night as part of a bar-hopping tour alongside their European counterparts. This unique event featured representatives from various European carnival cities, with a large contingent from Germany. It was not just a night of music but also an important networking opportunity for the band to connect with fellow musicians and carnival enthusiasts from around the world.
Roderich Lopez, representing Asambeho Aruba and a member of the Federation of European Carnival Cities (FECC), seized the opportunity to promote Aruba’s rich cultural heritage. Lopez, who has participated in multiple international conferences, used this platform to strengthen connections and introduce Asambeho to a wider audience. Experiencing their music live had an undeniable impact, far surpassing the impression of recordings.
