Minister Croes applauds Aruba’s young athletes for their victories at One League Baseball Tournament

Minister of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation, and Sports, Gerlien Croes, has expressed her pride and joy in the accomplishments of Aruba’s young baseball athletes, who once again made history for the island. The U6, U10, and U16 national teams participated in the prestigious One League Baseball Tournament in Fort Myers, where each team was crowned Caribbean champion in its category — a testament to their talent, discipline, and Aruban pride.

“This incredible achievement by our teams is an inspiration to all of us,” said Minister Croes. “At such a young age, you’ve shown that with hard work and dedication, it’s possible to put Aruba on the map and carry our flag with pride on the international stage. You are true champions in every sense of the word.”

Minister Croes also extended her gratitude to the parents, coaches, support staff, and everyone who stood behind these children and teens. “Behind every victory is a team of supporters — parents who give their time and love, coaches and staff who provide guidance, and a community that believes in them. You are all part of this success. Thank you for being a pillar of strength and encouragement for our athletes.”

She emphasized that these victories represent more than just trophies — they are important milestones in building Aruba’s sporting future. “Sports teach our youth values that last a lifetime: teamwork, respect, and ambition,” she said.

“As Minister of Sports, I firmly believe that investing in youth sports is investing in the future of our nation. These athletes have proven that. They’ve shown us that Aruba’s future is bright — built by determined, talented, and hopeful young people.”

She concluded by highlighting the broader importance of sports: “Sports are more than just games — they’re key to building a healthier, stronger, and more united Aruba. Let’s continue to support and believe in our athletes, because that’s how we shape the champions of tomorrow.”
