For the first time in 15 years, New Yorkers (and many Aruban tourists) woke up to the magic of a “White Christmas” in New York. According to the National Weather Service, a “White Christmas” occurs when at least one inch of snow blankets the ground by 7:00 am on Christmas morning.
The snowfall that graced New York City on Tuesday morning remained intact overnight, leaving Central Park coated with a measured 1 inch of snow by 7:00 am on Wednesday.
The last time New York City experienced a White Christmas was in 2009, when 2 inches of snow covered the ground. Boston joined the holiday snowfall festivities this year, recording an impressive 4 inches of snow.
Looking ahead, forecasters predict milder conditions for the weekend, with temperatures expected to reach 4°C in New York and 10°C in Chicago.
