Preparations underway for July 25 cleanup campaign with more than 30 trash bins planned across Aruba

Preparations are underway for the island-wide cleanup campaign on July 25, with more than 30 trash bins set to be placed in neighborhoods throughout Aruba.

As part of the preparations, a government team visited the Mabon neighborhood together with representatives from various departments to carry out a cleanup activity and hear residents’ concerns. Also joining the visit were Otami Thomasia, Sonaly Acosta from the Ministry of Tourism, and Mabon Neighborhood Committee representative Astrid Vries.

A new partner in the campaign is WAB, the association of construction companies, which has joined the July 25 cleanup initiative. WAB will contribute by helping place trash bins in several neighborhoods across the island. Representative Rijkerd said the organization is proud to support a project that is important for Aruba.

Thomasia described the campaign as a call for the entire community to help address the issue of litter in public areas. She said reducing waste and keeping Aruba clean requires a collective effort and that this type of behavior should not become part of the island’s culture.

She added that the cleanup campaign aims to improve the appearance of Aruba, including for visitors. July 25 will mark the start of a renewed effort, with residents encouraged to clean the areas around their homes and continue maintaining them afterward. By working together, the community can help restore the island’s natural beauty.

Acosta said previous neighborhood experiences have shown that residents appreciate cleanup initiatives in their communities. She emphasized that July 25 provides an opportunity for people to come together, clean the island, and continue taking care of it. “Let’s unite and take care of our beautiful island Aruba,” she said.

The more than 30 trash bins will be placed at various locations throughout Aruba, including Tanki Leendert, San Nicolas, Cura Cabay, Savaneta, Pos Chiquito, Mahuma, Barcadera, Dakota, Santa Cruz, Hooiberg, Paradera, Playa, Playa Pabou, and Noord.
