Incident at Arashi Beach leaves one dead and one in critical condition

by Nicole

A tragic incident occurred late yesterday afternoon at Arashi Beach, where rough sea conditions led to two Dutch tourists getting into serious trouble in the water. One of them drowned, and the other remains in critical condition.

According to witnesses, cries for help were heard coming from the water, with one person shouting “help, help” as waves became increasingly dangerous. Several beachgoers were in the water at the time.

A police officer who arrived on the scene immediately entered the sea to assist and managed to bring one of the victims, a 53-year-old woman, to shore. Sadly, upon reaching land, she was found to have no pulse.

Shortly after, authorities were informed that another person was still in the water. Officers requested help from the “Around Aruba” crew, to go with their boat to search the area. They confirmed the presence of a second victim and were able to bring that person safely onboard.

Paramedics from three ambulances and a rapid response team worked together to resuscitate the second tourist. Once a pulse was restored, the individual was rushed to Horacio Oduber Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

It is currently unclear whether the two individuals were family members or traveling together as part of a group.

Our sincere condolences are extended to the family and friends of the deceased.
