Over recent months, family, friends, and various organizations in Aruba have come together to organize events and raise funds for Alysha Kock’s medical treatment abroad. Many will remember a major event at a school in Macuarima. After several months without updates, Aruba hadn’t heard much from Alysha or her family. However, wordpressmu-567960-1832548.cloudwaysapps.com recently reached out to her father, Eugene Kock, to get an update on her situation and the results of the fundraising efforts.
Our wordpressmu-567960-1832548.cloudwaysapps.com representative met with Eugene in Rotterdam, where he shared that the fundraising events in Aruba had gone well, raising a total of 18,700 florins. Although this amount fell short of their target by about 7,600 florins, the family is grateful for the support they received. Alysha’s health took a sudden turn for the worse, prompting Eugene and Alysha to leave for the Netherlands, where they arrived on October 26th. They went directly to the hospital to start necessary tests. Initial results were not favorable, but her team of specialists is now working closely with her.

Alysha will need to stay in the Netherlands for the foreseeable future, as her health requires continuous care. Thankfully, she feels safer and better supported there. Recently, Aruba’s Health Insurance Office (AZV) stepped in to cover all her medical expenses, which has also allowed them to secure temporary housing. Although the next stages of treatment will be challenging, Eugene is confident that Alysha is prepared.
Once the funds raised in Aruba were converted to euros, the amount shrank significantly. Even with 30,000 florins, the rising cost of living in the Netherlands means that essentials such as food and transportation are expensive. Nonetheless, anyone who still wishes to support Alysha is welcome to donate to the CMB bank account #63121306
