The 24ora.com team recently set out to gather opinions from tourists, visiting several locations where locals have been camping on the beach, spanning from San Nicolas to Arashi. This practice, which has been part of the island’s culture for many years, currently attracts between 3,500 and 4,000 campers. San Nicolas sees the highest concentration of campers, although Linear Park and the former Bushiri area remain popular spots.
Tourists interviewed during the visit largely expressed no concerns about the locals camping on the beach. In fact, many found it intriguing and appealing, appreciating the opportunity to witness the continuation of this tradition. Most tourists reported enjoying their interactions with the campers and had a positive view of the experience.
Some tourists even participated in beach games with the locals, enjoying the sense of community and the unique dynamic created by the blend of residents and visitors. For many, it was their first exposure to this tradition, making it a memorable and exciting experience.
