Aruba wins seventeen medals in international karate competition

Last week, the S.K.I.F Aruba dojo Jin Sei Kan represented our lovely island of Aruba in the sport of karate. They won 17 medals, 7 of which are gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze.

S.K.I.F Aruba traveled with 11 athletes: Mariana Rodriguez, Christopher Velasquez, Rodrigo Rodriguez, Maresha Tromp, Kyra Jong, Manuela Jansen, Alysha Jansen, David Wong, Charlotte Fingal, Jaydy-Linn Kelly, and Jediael Jansen. They were under the guidance of Technical Sensei JuanDavid Velasquez.

These 11 athletes defended our Aruban flag against 26 other countries. They took the opportunity to open doors for the sport of karate to grow internationally. S.K.I.F Aruba is very grateful to all the parents who made this trip a reality, and we also want to thank Sensei Alberto from Shotokai Aruba for helping our children along with Sensei Juan David.

We thank each and every one for their generosity towards our children and for trusting in the potential of our youth. Thanks to the people of Aruba who, in one way or another, contributed to the sport and our fundraisers.

Many, many thanks on behalf of our athletes and the S.K.I.F Aruba organization located at La Salle College.
