HOH: More than seven thousand patients received specialist medical care

Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) is once again sharing the statistics for May 2024 with the community of Aruba. These hospital statistics are shared to give an indication to all those interested in the services provided to patients monthly by our medical care professionals.

In May, 836 patients were hospitalized, which is higher than in April (828) and also higher than in March (780). Of the patients admitted to HOH, 483 were female, and 241 were planned admissions. The average length of stay at HOH in May was 4.2 days. In May, bed occupancy decreased to 83.2% compared to April’s 93.7%. A total of 622 surgeries were performed, which is higher than in April (577) and also higher than in March (514).

The Emergency Department attended to 2,792 patients in May, which is more than in April (2,704). The hospital welcomed 46 baby boys and 33 baby girls in May (a total of 79 babies). In May, the Aruba Blood Bank received a total of 205 blood donations.

A total of 7,358 consultations were held in May with patients by hospital specialists, which is 271 more consultations than in April. A total of 4,822 tests were conducted by the Radiology Department, and 12,614 people visited LABHOH in May, which is 1,351 more people than in April. Finally, a total of 825 patients returned home after admission to HOH during May.
