Construction of roundabout at Palm Beach helps with better flow of traffic

Yesterday, construction started at the Palm Beach intersection and will soon make way for the new roundabout. After the traffic lights stopped working, the area was transformed into an intersection. Before the speed bumps were placed, at least three to four accidents with injuries would occur daily.

After the speed bumps, a significant decrease in accidents was noticed. However, traffic would still back up. Since the construction of the roundabout started, an effect which hasn’t been seen in some time was noticeable. From the moment the road was closed off, traffic would flow much easier especially in the busiest hour of the day around 5:00 pm.

From the main road Avenida Nelson Oduber, traffic no longer gets backed up. Heading east, in the direction of CITGO Palm BEach, traffic does get backed up near the speed bump placed by the government. The speed bump itself has also been criticized. Various drivers commented that it was built too tall and causes damage to vehicles.

Indeed, it is visible that the speed bump causes damage to lower vehicles compared to SUV’s. In the end, it is hoped that the community adjusts to the changes on the route as announced by the DOW and that the traffic flows with more ease compared to before.
