Bureau City Inspector Cleans Up Shellstraat lot Again

Once again, the area next to Royal Plaza is littered with trash and once again, it has been cleaned by the Bureau City Inspector (BCI). This lot is open, without ongoing construction, and belongs to the Venezuelan Consulate. So while this lot is private and does not fall under the BCI’s duty to clean, it’s the third or fourth time that their workers have been active in this area.

This lot is in the tourist zone, so the BCI makes it a priority to keep the place clean.

The owner of the lot has put up a fence, but those who come to dump trash cut through it and end up littering the area anyway. Either nearby businesses pay homeless people to take the trash away and it ends up here, or they take and rummage through the trash bags to see what they can find and dump the rest in the lot.

The BCI started cleaning and found empty bags of ice, soda bottles, and much more. They also found household items and things with people’s or businesses’ names on them. This helps the workers to track down those responsible for this mess.

In the end, the fence was cut open to allow cars to enter and remove all the trash that was dumped there.
