Coast Guard Issues Fines to Multiple Boats for Not Complying with the Law

Recently, Coast Guard personnel conducted rigorous inspections in various parts of Aruba. They specifically checked water sports companies in hotel areas and Eagle Beach. The inspections were based on three regulations stipulated in the “Landsbesluit Openbare Wateren en Stranden.”

The three regulations are:

  • It is not allowed to speed near the shore. This applies from the shore up to 50 meters out.
  • It is not allowed to place any type of obstacle that obstructs the free movement of people on public beaches.
  • It is not allowed to speed in the buffer zone.

During the inspections, it was found that various boats did not comply with these regulations, resulting in a total of 10 fines being issued. One of the boats violated several regulations and received 2 fines.

The Coast Guard will continue with the inspections and urges every company and boat user to be aware of and comply with the aforementioned regulations.
