Officer Werleman won the first Police Grappling tournament

Recently, the POVA Club located in Santa Cruz was the center of attention among police officers for the first “Grappling 2024” tournament. With the support of their police colleagues, fourteen officers participated and demonstrated their talent and effort. It was indeed a strong battle among colleagues who showed unity and vitality by engaging in a healthy sport. Vitality is a priority in the new police leadership.

Commissioner Ramon Arnhem was also present and demonstrated together with police officer van der Biezen from the organizing committee that initiated this event, which became a successful final. For Arnhem, this means that “we must provide support to each other, but also remain united to continue strengthening both the brotherhood within our police organization and as colleagues. Congratulations to the committee that made this successful event a reality!”

The absolute winner was Officer Werleman, with Solognier in second place, Cayama-Perez in third place, and Escobar Romero in fourth place.

The Aruba Police Force is exploring the possibility of adding Grappling and Jiu Jitsu to police training in order to further enhance the quality of police officers.
