Trash bin on fire almost penetrated the churchyard

On Thursday night at around 10:40 pm, drivers passing by raised the alarm about a trash bin on fire on Klipstraat. The bin was right next to the Protestant Church, just below The Driftwood Restaurant.

It was already posing a danger to pedestrians on the sidewalk, but seeing that it was close to the churchyard, at one point it started to become a greater danger if it were to spread to the churchyard, where there are a lot of plants.

Clearly, this could cause the foliage to catch fire and spread quickly. Luckily, that did not happen in the end as the fire department arrived with two units to combat the fire. Everything indicates that this was the work of an arsonist who set the bin on fire.
