Guest of Honor: King Willem-Alexander Invites Minister Wever to Accompany Him on His Trade Mission to New York

Minister Geoffrey Wever is back in Aruba after a trade mission together with the royal couple in New York. King Willem-Alexander invited Minister Wever as a guest of honor to be part of the delegation. The delegation visited various organizations, and Wever surely promoted Aruba during this visit. Along with the royal couple’s delegation, Minister Geoffrey Wever was accompanied by Dutch Minister Liesje Schreinemacher, Ambassador Birgitta Tazelaar, and Plenipotentiary Minister Zulema Dabian-Erasmus.

The delegation had the opportunity to explore the area known as ‘Little Caribbean,’ which largely consists of different groups of Caribbean descent and showcases the economic and commercial development of the area.

CaribBeing was one of the stops for the delegation. CaribBeing is a business in the ‘Little Caribbean’ area with regional reach. Here, various Caribbean products were on display for sale, including a variety of products from Aruba, such as Bushi Beard Co, Arubalife Organics, Hot Delight, and Bath & Body.

Minister Wever had a pleasant conversation with CaribBeing’s entrepreneur, Shelley Worrell. They discussed expanding their portfolio of Aruban products for sale in New York while continuing to promote their business in the city and its surroundings.

This trip illustrates the good relationship within the Dutch Kingdom, and the stop in the ‘Little Caribbean’ area highlights the Caribbean and regional connection that the Dutch Kingdom has. It also demonstrates how the countries within the Dutch Kingdom can unite to explore economic opportunities. The strong relationship with the U.S. is essential for the prosperity of the Dutch Kingdom, and specifically for Aruba as a Caribbean island that heavily depends on the North American economy.

“It is an honor to be part of the delegation with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. As a minister, I am always looking for opportunities for Aruba’s economic development,” Minister Wever mentioned. This trip illustrates the importance and valuable contribution to the good relationship and collaboration within the Dutch Kingdom and with the U.S.
