Tourism growth continues: the American market has grown by 17%

the Minister of Tourism and Public Health, Dangui Oduber, informs the community about the tourism results for the first 5 months of the year 2024. The results for the month of May 2024 have just been received, confirming that the growth trend and high demand for Aruba continue.

Analysis has shown that demand for Aruba remains one of the highest in the entire Caribbean. Indicators measuring tourism success confirm this.

Minister Oduber expressed satisfaction with the positive results for May 2024. In May 2024, Aruba received 111,180 visitors, marking a 16.6% growth. During the first 5 months of the year 2024 (Jan-May 2024), Aruba recorded an 18.7% growth compared to the first 5 months of 2023, which is the best year in Aruba’s tourism history.

“Our primary market, the American market, recorded a 17% growth in the first 5 months of the year 2024 compared to 2023, which is an impressive growth. Tourists are satisfied with Aruba and rate the Guest Experience at 9.0. The highest-rated category is the environment, with a rating of 9.4.”

What is most remarkable is that tourists are spending more money and leaving more money in our economy.

During the first quarter of the year 2024, tourists spent an average of $666 per tourist. This expenditure is measured from their Visa credit cards. This totaled recorded spending by Visa credit card users in Aruba amounted to $185,095,875.

It is noteworthy that the first quarter of 2024 is very positive for Aruba.

Also important to mention is the fact that during the first 5 months of the year 2024, 31% of stay-over tourists stayed in vacation rentals. Minister Oduber emphasized the importance of regulating this sector as soon as possible and expressed satisfaction that the legislation is currently before the Advisory Council.

In conclusion, Minister Oduber expressed satisfaction that Aruba remains a beautiful destination with high demand for many visitors in the Caribbean. The results demonstrate that there will likely be high figures to confirm good management.

Minister Oduber wished to thank all tourism partners for these positive results. He confirms that the management being carried out is effective, attracting affluent tourists that contribute to the tourism economic spin-off. “Thanks to everyone working in the tourism sector. Let’s continue to show our friendliness and hospitality to our visitors, which is what are known for.”
