Fundacion Orguyo (Pride Foundation) is making an urgent appeal to all members of the Aruba Parliament to cast their decisive vote on the initiative law that will introduce same-sex marriage on our beloved island. The previous vote ended in a tie, making the June 19th vote crucial. Another tie will result in the rejection of this essential legislation, which is a setback we cannot afford, as stated by the foundation in a recent press release.
Their statement reads, “The benefit of this law may not have a significant impact on you personally, but it could be of immense importance to a loved one, a sibling, child, niece, nephew, grandchild, cousin, neighbor, coworker, and/or friends whom we all care about.”
This law will impact the following points for the country of Aruba:
Positive Impact of the Law on Well-being and Mental Health:
- It will improve the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals
- Everyone will have the same rights and recognition
- It will reduce stigma and discrimination
Bullying and Discrimination:
