UNOCA celebrates its 38th anniversary by launching a new logo

Together with people who have a special significance for the organization, UNOCA celebrated its 38 years of existence with a surprise, which was the unveiling of their new logo.

The Union of Aruban Cultural Organizations (UNOCA) celebrated a special milestone this week. Director Ray-Anne Hernandez explained that the celebration marked 38 years since the organization was founded to ensure the cultural development of Aruba, especially after the Status Aparte.

At the same time, they took advantage of the celebration to launch a new, very colorful logo to represent the positivity, unity, and creativity of artisans and artists.

UNOCA decided to dedicate this evening to Nilda Koolman, a person who has done a lot for the organization and Aruban artists, even after her retirement. Ray-Anne Hernandez mentioned that Nilda Koolman has had a long journey as a member or part of UNOCA’s board. Even after her retirement, she continued to advise the organization on the best ways to move forward.

During this evening, various staff members, both current and past, were present. One of them was former Governor of Aruba, Fredis Refunjol, who received the first t-shirt with the new logo on it. ‘We took a moment to remember many of the board members and staff who have passed away.’

One can expect a lot more work ahead for the cultural development of Aruba, the director said.
