Art Is Fun Foundation closes the school year with an exhibition

This Sunday is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in a bit of art in a casual environment. At the same time, you will be supporting a foundation that is doing significant work in fostering knowledge and practice of visual arts in the next generation. “Celebrating the Legacy of Mondriaan, Miro, and Picasso” is the title of the exhibition with which the Art Is Fun Foundation is closing its 2023/2024 school year.

Maria Magdalena Gonzalez Gonzalez, founder of Art Is Fun, explains that their philosophy is to offer a comprehensive educational program; one in which students learn plastic arts, dance, sculpture, fashion, and more. The program is open to children starting at the age of 4 and is also available for adults. It begins with a basic course and progresses through levels 1 to 4.

According to Gonzalez, this approach achieves a deeper understanding, develops the desire to create art, and also masters the use of tools and materials. “Through play and activities, students develop their skills,” the founder stated.

Classes run from September to June, with a structured curriculum and program to follow. At the end of the year, it is customary to offer an event in the form of an exhibition to show parents, friends, and the general public what has been learned and created during the year.

The Art Is Fun Foundation invites everyone to join them this Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Ritz Carlton Ballroom between 11 AM and 2 PM. There will be over 200 pieces of art, a fashion show, dance performances, and more, from 70 students aged between 4 and 14. Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan, with his technique of primary colors and black and white, is a main focus, as well as Spanish painters Jean Miro and Pablo Picasso.

In addition, the Empowered Art Academy of Dance will present two beautiful pieces, one of which is called “Paris.” Also, Gonzalez, together with designer Diego Giraldo, has created eight fashion designs that will be presented by professional models and some students in three shows throughout the morning. There will also be pieces of Asian-inspired art with ink and paper, and presentations of artistic and body makeup.

The Art Is Fun Foundation thanks the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Caribense for its support in granting 30 scholarships to children who now have the opportunity to acquire art knowledge and life skills. For the 2024/2025 school year, the foundation plans to expand its capacity to offer more children this opportunity. They will also continue to provide support at vacation camps in different neighborhoods.
