Early Saturday morning, at around 1:00 am, police and an ambulance urgently rushed to Kudawecha where a car allegedly hit a pedestrian, leaving them injured.
The incident involved a blue Hyundai Santa Fe which hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street near New Ambiente Bar & Restaurant. The victim, an elderly man, had been coming from a celebration where Colombia had been crowned champion in a soccer match.
Given the severity of the situation, paramedics opted to transport the victim to the hospital for advanced medical treatment.
Meanwhile, traffic police also arrived to conduct their investigation into the cause of the accident. It was determined that the driver of the Santa Fe was driving under the influence of alcohol, as confirmed by a breathalyzer test conducted by the police. The impact caused a considerable crack on the car’s windshield as well.
The police arrested the driver of the Santa Fe and took him into custody where he will have to answer to a prosecutor for his actions.
