Early Saturday morning, at around 12:30 am, an accident occurred on the road towards the Hato roundabout. Here, the driver of a silver Hyundai Accent hit and knocked down a streetlight and ultimately ended up in a ditch.
Police spoke with the driver and suspected that he was intoxicated. He was unable to speak properly, leading them to conduct a breathalyzer test.
The test came back positive, so a police transport was requested and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Elmar was also informed of the situation, and they sent their personnel to repair the knocked-down pole.
