Everything is set for the fourteenth edition of the Aruba International Regatta

This coming weekend, the fourteenth edition of the International Regatta will take place, starting on Saturday, June 29, with fourteen racing classes: Optimists, SailQube, F11, Beachcats, Sunfishes, Lasers, Racing Yachts, Live Aboard Cruisers, Multihull Yachts, Miniature Boats (30-35-40 inch), Windsurfers, and Kites.

Rick van der Vaart, President of Aruba Regatta, is once again organizing the Aruba Regatta with more than 70 participants. Aruba is blessed with beautiful waters and good weather, providing the opportunity for both children and adults to participate in the event.

All those who have registered picked up their ‘goodies’ on Friday, including their gifts, a nice polo shirt, and the intention is for everyone to gather to officially open the Aruba Regatta.

DIGITAL TOKEN

A new feature that Aruba Regatta has introduced this year is the replacement of the traditional tokens. This year they have come up with a technological innovation, where payments are made through a wristband, and at the bar, it’s tap & drink or tap & eat.

Aruba Regatta is working together with CX Events, known both in Aruba and Curaçao, which utilizes this technology. The aim is to make it easier for everyone to enjoy, without involving cash, to allow the public to enjoy the event more freely.

VARIOUS CATEGORIES

Aruba Regatta features different classes of various types of boats, from miniature boats, racing boats, large yachts, etc., to compete fairly, all boats of the same category must compete against each other. This requires organizing everyone to stay separate and not interfere with one another.

The goal of the event is to bring everyone together in the celebration of the sport of sailing. The children can see how the adults enjoy our nature, the wind, and the sea. It is not something done behind a computer. It is not an easy sport; it is tough to handle the boat in Aruba’s strong winds.

On Saturday, June 29, all Class Sailing Races will take place from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, followed by Live Music around 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm with HAERFEN POP ROCK & BLUES Band.

On Sunday, June 30, there will be All Class Sailing Races throughout the day with races taking place from early morning at 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, followed by Live Music between 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with The Originalz Band.

The Regatta award ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 30, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm (Youth 5:30 pm; Adults 6:30 pm).

The vision of ARF, Aruba Regatta Foundation, is to introduce more people to sailing and bring them closer to nature and sustainable watersport experiences. For 2024, the Regatta aims to reach as many young people as possible and introduce them to the joy of sailing, boats, and to attract the public to Regatta Village, located near Surfside Beach next to Neptali Henriquez Park.
