Indignation over the lack of respect for Alto Vista Chapel

Today, a post appeared on Facebook where several individuals expressed their indignation regarding the lack of respect shown by some visitors of the Alto Vista Chapel.

Alto Vista Chapel, Aruba’s first church, is one of the most visited places in Aruba, by both visitors and locals alike.

On several occasions, concerns have been raised about small businesses selling their merchandise in front of the church. These businesses do not sell any religious materials, but instead sell things specifically aimed at Aruba’s visitors. Many find this to be a lack of respect for the church.

One person couldn’t believe their eyes when a group of visitors arrived and one of them walked into the chapel shirtless. This is something that should never happen in any house of worship or religious setting. Even more indignation arose when a citizen noticed a lady entering the place with a beer bottle in hand. It seems these people have no respect for religion because otherwise they wouldn’t do such things.

A sign should be erected with clear rules of what is not allowed in or around the chapel. There should also be someone present at the church to make sure all the rules are followed. Perhaps the first step should be to demand that hotels, tour companies, and rental car / ATV agencies explain to their clients, that when they go to a church, they need to show their respect.
