In the morning hours, authorities went to Boca Catalina after receiving reports of a man showing no signs of life. Upon police arrival, it was confirmed that this was the case. The deceased is 59-year-old Lodrico Briesen, a well-known athlete on the island. Due to this, many were sure that he did not drown. It is more likely that he fell ill whilst in the water and passed away as a result.
A person at the scene noticed that he seemed to be having trouble in the water. He was pulled out of the water and the authorities were notified. Upon the ambulance’s arrival, they provided first aid but without success.
This man was in and around the sea often, and he was not only an active athlete who participated in his fair share of triathlons, but he was also a trainer.
According to our sources, he had been experiencing chest pain recently and had even made an appointment with a doctor, which he was due to attend next week. His father, Melecio Briesen, had also passed away recently.
The sports world is certainly in mourning. Our condolences go out to his family.
