After a 16 hour debate: Parliament approved the supplementary budget

Today around 1.30 am, the parliament meeting, which started yesterday at 9:00 am, came to an end. Its topic was the supplementary budget of the government. The coalition got support from the independent candidate, Daphne Lejuez, for the law to pass with twelve votes in favor and six votes against. The political party AVP was missing three candidates during voting.

“It was a long meeting, but very satisfactory,” that is what Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes said during an exclusive interview in front of Parliament. The political leader considers the approval a relief for the Government in these last months remaining this year. Especially to be able to pay FASE, salary subsidy, and support for small and medium enterprises.

The political leader explained that the Government’s income had been better than what they projected, which means our financial needs become less. The Government has reduced its spending by about 300 million florins this year, but the challenges remain gigantic.
