Prime Minister: The Government is seeking support from Parliament to say YES to The Netherlands

The Government has sent a letter to Parliament informing that they feel like they have reached the end of negotiations. They feel like they could live with the latest changes made, and the Government intends to accept The Netherlands’ conditions.

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes said that she is waiting on the final documents but would not accept anything without it going to Parliament first. This way, Parliament will get a chance to study the documents and share their thoughts about it.

COVID has hit Aruba hard, and without help, we cannot get out of it. “Some people say that accepting help is a sign of weakness,” is what she expressed. Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes justly believes that accepting help is a sign of strength. Aruba needs help to get out of this crisis. We will come out stronger, economically stronger, and a stronger autonomy.

The changes made in the conditions are more balanced. A new article states that the entity will not undermine nor Parliament’s nor the Government’s autonomy. The Government feels that the country’s autonomy is guaranteed, which most people were worried about. Now we wait for the documents to get to Parliament.
