AHATA: October occupancy fell by 77.5%

The Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association has published the latest hotel performance data showing that in October the occupancy dropped by 77.5%.

OCTOBER 2020:

Occupancy: The occupancy rate was 17.2% compared to 76.3% a year ago. Hotel occupancy recovered by 22.5% this past month.
ADR: The average daily rate (for occupied rooms) increased by 4.5% compared to last year, to $229.18.
RevPAR: The revenue per available room dropped by 76.5% to $39.34.

2020 AVERAGE:

Occupancy: The year-to-date average occupancy is 69% lower than last year, at 26.4% rate.
RevPAR: The year-to-date revenue per available room, tourism’s primary indicator, dropped by 62% to $88.07.

OCCUPANCY FORECAST:

Companies directly in the tourism sector have been operating at a financial loss since March 2020.

AHATA’s Timeshare properties are experiencing a higher occupancy than the hotels during the recovery of our tourism. In October the average occupancy was 37% and the forecast for November is 41%.
