Atan Lee: The first step has been made towards becoming “special municipality”

It was very emotional to watch Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes put her signature as the first step towards Aruba becoming a ‘special municipality.’
A small group of people, but with thousands of support from those who agreed to become a municipality. Different surveys have shown that the people of Aruba desire to become a municipality, just like more than 70% of Aruba’s people asked the Government to sign the agreement with The Netherlands.
Since the 17th century, Aruba has belonged to The Netherlands, and we have a Dutch passport. The late Betico Croes fought for Aruba to leave the Netherlands Antilles,  BUT NEVER FROM THE NETHERLANDS. We must be grateful to God that we have a secured passport and belong to one of the richest countries in the world, The Netherlands.
Most politicians begged not to sign, even those who have no Parliament representations, so that Aruba won’t lose its autonomy. Empty and poor autonomy. In just 34 years of “Status Aparte,” elite politicians made millionaires with the people’s money, left us empty, in extreme poverty.
While elite politicians can enjoy a pension of 30 to 70 thousand florins per month at the age of 45 to 50 years, earn more millions with the people’s money by receiving “transitional allowance,” and on top of that help friends and family become millionaires, our country, the people of Aruba must suffer from poverty. Rich and poor have to pay cumulative BBO reaching up to 36% on a product. ARUBA HAS THE HIGHEST TAX SYSTEM AND BBO IN THE WORLD.

As Knops said, Aruba was on the verge of bankruptcy, an embarrassment for Aruba, one of the region’s richest countries, but elite politicians killed it!
It took the Government 6 months, after consulting with even the kindergartners, to decide on signing the agreement with The Netherlands, while the people got poorer. THANKS TO CURACAO FOR COMING TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NETHERLANDS, THAT ARUBA COULD HAVE COPIED THAT AGREEMENT, BUT WITH ANOTHER NAME.
For 7 years, Aruba will be a “special municipality” within the Dutch Kingdom. When people see that order, respect, norm, and value have returned to our island, they would want for us to become a municipality forever while maintaining Betico as our liberator, our anthem, our flag, our culture, our National holidays, an island we could be proud of and say “Aruba dushi tera.”
ARUBA HAS LEFT BEHIND A DEBT OF MORE THAN 10 BILLION FLORINS. HOW ARE WE GOING TO PAY THAT BACK?
We say goodbye to corruption, fraud, abuse of power, favors, and enriching friends and family.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO SUPPORTED US, GOD BLESS YOU AND ALSO FOR THE LOVE SHOWN TOWARDS YOUR COUNTRY, NOW OUR BELOVED ISLAND, ARUBA DUSHI TERA.
THANK YOU
