Evelyn Wever-Croes: Evaluating a visa for Venezuelans

After many attempts, it seems like Gabinete Wever-Croes will introduce a visa for Venezuelans to enter Aruba. In the past, the Government of the Netherlands did not approve of this idea. But tomorrow, the Prime Ministers of Aruba, Curacao, and Sint Maarten will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss foreign relations.

“I’m happy to be in Aruba again to talk to Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes. I’ve realized that Aruba has endured many challenges due to the pandemic, and we must work together to surpass this crisis. Managing foreign relations is essential in this. Of course, the relationship with Venezuela as well. We have talked about what could be expected with the coming presidential elections in Venezuela. We also spoke about the Visa that we want to implement for Venezuelans to regulate the traffic of people,” is what Minister Stef Blok said this afternoon.

Prime Minister of Aruba, mr. Evelyn Wever-Croes said that the meeting went well. She explained to Minister Blok that we feel Venezuela’s impact because they are so close to us. She took the opportunity to inform him about the positive developments regarding Aruba’s refinery and other projects for San Nicolaas. They emphasized how essential the embassies’ role is to reach this far—a good meeting in preparation for tomorrow’s meeting.
