Peru: Joran van der Sloot suspected of smuggling drugs into prison

Once again, Joran van der Sloot is in the news. According to publications in Dutch newspapers, Joran van der Sloot is being persecuted in Peru for smuggling drugs while being in prison for murdering a 21-year-old Peruvian girl.

According to the Peruvian Justice, van der Sloot is involved in smuggling almost 300 grams of cocaine and 140 grams of marihuana in prison. They are demanding a year and a half against him.

This trial started after he received a visit from a 23-year-old friend in Peru. In August, she brought him 19 beetroots. During a control, they found drugs in these vegetables. The friend claims not to be aware of anything.

The prosecutor claims that Joran’s friend visited him three times in a short amount of time.

In addition to Joran and his friend, four more people are accused in this case, among others a sibling of Joran’s friend.

In 2010 Joran was arrested, and in January 2012, he was sentenced to 28 years in prison for murdering the 21-year-old Peruvian, Stephany Flores. He is also the suspect in Natalee Holloway’s disappearance on May 30th, 2005, in Aruba.
