Possible health passport in 2021 when traveling to Aruba

When traveling next year, you would need two passports, which include a health passport. Aruba is the first country in the world to associate with the company that developed the digital passport.

The passport will prove that you are ok to fly and Covid-19 negative. According to the Minister of Health Dangui Oduber, Aruba is the first country to agree to this project. It is innovative, and Aruba is the forerunner in this.

How it works

The health passport contains your non-sensitive health information about vaccination and test results. According to CNN, the verification could be used when traveling or attending big events like concerts. Different companies have developed such passports, and one of them is the Common Trust Network.

Together with JetBlue, Virgin Atlantic, Swiss Air Lines, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, and hundreds of health systems in the US and Aruba, the CommonPass app will contain all Covid-19 test results and proof that you have received both doses of vaccine.

The app will generate a certificate in the form of a QR code, which could be scanned by the cabin crew or security checkpoint. The app will also contain the health requirements of the travelers’ country of embarkation and destination. “ Aruba is a pioneer of the world for creating opportunities to allow travelers back to the island. We have been working on this project for the last couple of months,” is what the Minister said. And it should be finalized by March 2021.

Aruba is demonstrating to be using innovation and technology to be one step ahead in working on the recovery of our tourism and economy. Minister Oduber wants to thank the Ministry of Tourism, Public Health and Sports, ATA, DVG, Ministry of General Affairs, and Futura for their assistance in this. Minister Oduber finalized by saying that the importance of creating new possibilities for our country is essential.
