Diego De Cuba (STA): Situation at Arubus is serious

According to Diego de Cuba, president of STA, there is a lot of uncertainty at Arubus. The labor union has some company representatives, although the workers are upset with the labor union STA. They feel as if they are being lied to by the labor union about the situation in Arubus.

Most of the workers joined the labor union SEPPA, and they even requested a referendum. According to Mr. De Cuba, different companies are receiving funds from the Government to survive, and Arubus is one of these companies. In 2020, Arubus’ income fell by 52%.

Arubus was already in a difficult situation, and with the loss of 52%, things are worse now. STA wanted to avoid a restructuring so they won’t have to send anybody home. To give an example. AAA, a multimillionaire company, had to reorganize. People were given a good package, and they continued with the reorganization. Forty-seven people accepted AAA’s package, and eleven did not.

STA wants to avoid that. Arubus has no buffer. According to Mr. De Cuba, the situation is difficult at every state companies and changing from one labor union to another will not change the company’s difficult situation.

STA was afraid that the company would go over to restructuring because many parents will lose their jobs. But the way things are looking, cannot discard that the same will happen to Arubus, unless the workers agree to cooperate with management.
