Minister promised to pay EPI teachers

After Thursday’s walkout by the EPI teachers to express their concern, SIMAR’s president announced that they had reached an agreement.

Josephine Albertus explained that after the action, they received a visit from DPS’s Management Team. They gave the teachers an explanation that the teachers were not happy with because there was still no clarity if they will get paid for their overtime.

They sent a letter to the Minister of Education, dr. Armando Rudy Lampe. A few hours later, they received an answer stating that they will get paid for 2020’s overtime and those for the schoolyear 2020-2021.

The only thing missing is that they still to hear when they will receive their payments from the schoolyear 2019-2020. The letter said that the minister would do his utmost best to pay at the end of this month. So there is no guarantee.

They informed the Minister that if by February 9th there is no exact date when they will receive their payment, they will go into action again.
